REMiedies LAKESIDE

Ask anyone in Lakeside and they’ll likely tell you it’s a pretty perfect little spot with at least one of everything to meet life’s needs – you know, the basics, like a lake, a ski mountain, and a brewery. And yes, other essentials like a grocery store, hardware store, and, thanks to Keri and Justin Van Campen, a neighborhood pharmacy and gift shop.

K eri and Justin opened Remedies Lakeside seven years ago, filling not just a need in Lakeside, but a special place in the heart of the community.

“We’re just a couple of small-town Montana kids who recognized that Lakeside could really use a pharmacy,” shares Keri, who runs the business with her husband Justin, a licensed  pharmacist. “And we felt that the gift shop would be a good combination for the area since there isn’t a lot of shopping. We felt what we offer would be a really good fit.”

Remedies has the spirit of a mid-last-century small-town pharmacy and shop while offering the latest expertise and products to meet pharmaceutical and healthcare needs.

“Justin spends more time in front of the counter than behind it to really get to know our customers and their needs,” explains Keri. “We want to be a key part of our customers’ overall healthcare, making sure we are getting the best possible outcome for them, so they can feel their best. And to do that we not only focus on Western medicine, we have a lot of integrative and holistic offerings as well. We do compounding, and we have a great selection of over-the-counter products that are in tune with your body.”

As part of their holistic approach, Remedies offers hormone and wellness testing to address hormone imbalances and promote overall health and well-being. Vaccinations are also available at the pharmacy, including flu shots. Remedies works closely with neighboring Westshore Medical Clinic in Lakeside and other healthcare providers throughout the Flathead and beyond.

And then there’s fun shopping, too. The inviting gift section of the shop offers everything from techy toys and children’s books, to posh pajamas and indulgent candles, soaps and lotions. And of course, you can find the perfect gift and greeting card.

Keri, originally from Plentywood in northeast Montana, and Justin, originally from Harlowton, moved with their family to Lakeside from Chester, where they owned a pharmacy and giftshop. Prior to that they had a contract business, which took them on the road filling in at pharmacies around Montana.

“We’ve had many different adventures over the years and have moved around a lot, but after getting here, we burned the moving boxes,” explains Keri. “It’s just so beautiful, and on top of that we really feel like it’s a little family here.  It’s an adventure every day because of all the different people we get to meet and then the ones we get to help too.”
